Greetings:
I hope all of you are doing well. I want to touch base regarding some upcoming opportunities and athletic booster events.
Michael's Meats Fundraiser -- we are scheduled to do a Michaels Finer Meats fundraiser November 19 - December 3. We did this event last spring and have scheduled two of these this school year. Our thoughts behind this is that collectively we are able to meet minimum order requirements which allows all of our teams to take advantage of a fundraiser that offers good returns. Last spring our participating teams did well. Among those participating teams, football had 22 student athletes participate and made $640 and golf had seven student athletes participate and made $482. We opted to do this fundraiser this time of year to make it more accessible to fall sports teams and take advantage of possible holiday gift-giving. Boosters do not take any of the money generated from this opportunity. We will do all the administrative work and all profit will be put directly into the team account based on the profit of items sold by the team. Please let me know by Tuesday, October 22 if your team plans to participate and an approximate number of participants so we can prepare the fliers and order forms. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Chili Cook-off -- the date for the annual CCAB Chili Cook-off is January 10, 2014. This coincides with the boy's home basketball game against Westland. We will ask each team to provide a theme basket of items to be raffled at the cook-off. Each team will also prepare a pot of chili to be submitted for judging and served to those who have purchased tickets during the event. We will have a silent auction table this year. This will be provided for each team to sell 1-2 items via a silent auction. The proceeds from each item provided will go directly into that team's booster account. We do not want the theme basket to be a burden. Please advise if this will be a difficulty. We are getting this out now so you can plan accordingly. I have attached a list of themes from last year's event. If you would like to change or modify your theme, please let me know. We would like to have the baskets turned in by January 7, 2014 to have time to make final arrangements for the January 10 event.
CCAB Memberships -- we are behind where we would like to be on CCAB memberships. Please forward membership forms to you parent / student groups. I would be appreciative if this could be mentioned by coaches at your fall awards meetings in November. I have attached a membership form and can have those available for your fall award event. Memberships are $5.00 and all money goes to the CCAB scholarship fund.
Winter Pay to Participate -- Success beyond the classroom applications will be due November 1. For student athletes needing pay to participate money from CCAB, the application will be due November 8, 2013. Please remember that student athletes must be CCAB members to receive CCAB pay to participate money.
Our next CCAB meeting is next Thursday, December 12.

Forms may also be obtained in the athletic office in the main CCHS office. CCAB memberships are $5.00 for the school year. All proceeds fund the CCAB athletic scholarships awarded to a deserving senior(s) at the conclusion of the 2013-1014 school year.
